Protector 2

 

Protector2 is a program intended to increase security on Windows 9x computers. Computer secured with Protector2 will gain security features similar to Unix or Windows NT. The features include:
* Every user has to logon to system before he/she is allowed to use the computer.
* User can work only with those files and folders he/she has access rights to.
* User is allowed to change only the system setting defined by administrator

With Protector2 you can

Allow access to your computer only for certain users 
Define user rights to any folder or file for each user
Really hide hidden files for defined users
Restrict access to system settings and other options using the Windows 9x system policy (disable-  dos mode, registry tools, Control panels and so on) Protector2 will protect these settings from changes.
Limit the time user can use computer
Log logon/logout dates and times
Log attempts to change protected files or folders

Protector will enforce the specified user rights for file system on your computer and protect system registry from changes which could damage Protector itself or change system policy settings.
Protector2 can be configured to recognize users that are not bothered by the protection. It is possible for example to turn off the user rights and registry protection for selected user(s).

Pricing

The evaluation version of Protected has limited number of user accounts you can create (2) and limited number of user rights for each user (3). In the registered (full) version you will get up to 100 users and at least 100 rights for each user.
